Many owned before-
Occupied by each an instant
Then reversed the Door-
Bliss is frugal of her Leases 5
Adam taught her Thrift
Bankrupt once through his excesses-

[1] Paradise, mansion:: the paradise after death.
[2] Many owned before:: many people knew "good and evil" once, the time they were in paradise. "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." (Genesis 3:5)
[3] instant:: their eyes opened only a very short time.
[4] reverse the Door:: they cannot identify good and evil any more.
[5] Leases:: the leases are their knowings of good and evil. her:: the woman in Eden who gave Adam the fruit of "the tree of knowledge" to let him see. They own mansions now in paradise after their death.
[6] Thrift:: sparing use or careful expenditure of means (OED 3a). Adam taught her Thrift:: Adam told Eve to be careful in giving fruits.
[7] excesses:: actions of overstepping a prescribed limit (OED 3). Bankrupt once:: God sent them away from Eden.
