[1] Forbidden Fruit:: a fruit being confined; a fruit that open one's eyes; "in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened," (Genesis 3:5).
[2] mocks:: to imitate and ridicule.
[3] luscious:: delicious.
[4] Duty locks:: no-eye, a lock without eye for a key.

Of these two species the No-Eye Pea is the most delicate, being, in the green state, very little inferior to the English pea, and when dried and the cuticle removed, equal to the split peas we receive from Europe. ─ Edwards' Botanical Register (1845)
