A chastened Grace is twice a Grace — Holiness Movement

A chastened Grace is twice a Grace-1
Nay, 'tis a Holiness.
(F.1676/J.0)
[1] twice:: two stages in the holiness movement initiated by John Wesley (1703–1791).
[2] Holiness:: a Christian movement to start regeneration by grace, and reach entire sanctification through grace.

It has been the universal teaching of the Church that regeneration is a degree of holiness; that entire sanctification is complete holiness, has been as universally the creed of the Church. They are then the same in kind. Regeneration is sanctification begun. This was Mr. Wesley's reiterated declaration. ─ Christian purity: or, The Heritage of Faith (1869)
