There is a Shame of Nobleness — Timon of Athens

There is a Shame of Nobleness-1
Confronting Sudden Pelf-
A finer Shame of Ecstasy-
Convicted of Itself-

A best Disgrace-a Brave Man feels- 5
Acknowledged-of the Brave-
One More-"Ye Blessed"-to be told-
But that's-Behind the Grave-
(F.668/J.551)
[1] Shame, Nobleness:: Lord Timon was a noble who lost all his money and friends.
[2] Sudden Pelf:: Timon dug out gold in the wilderness.
[3] finer Shame:: Timon gave the gold to Alcibiades to attack Athens.
[5] a Brave Man:: Timon. the Brave:: Timon's friends who betrayed him. Acknowledged:: Timon sought help from his friends but being rejected.
[7] blessed:: ironically used for cursed; Timon's epitaph cursed the living men.

Timon's Epitaph:
Here lies a wretched Coarse, of wretched Soul bereft,
Seek not my name: A Plague consume you, wicked Caitiffs left:
Here lie I Timon, who alive, all living men did hate,
Pass by, and curse thy fill, but pass and stay not here thy gait.
