[1] We knew not, live:: Adam and Eve were innocently living in Eden; hinted by their nakedness in line four and five.
[2] when, die:: they knew not death.
[3] ignorance, cuirass:: their ignorance was their cuirass (an armor covering the body).
[4] wear Mortality:: their origin was human, not god.
[5] Option Gown:: a gown of wish, naked.
[6] take it off:: to take off their ignorance, and leave Eden.
[7] his intrusion:: the serpent in Eden, the temptation that intruded their life.
