Ourselves we do inter with sweet derision — God's Trial

All sufferings of Christians are God's doubts on their faith. "And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men" (EXO 32:28).

Ourselves we do inter with sweet derision.
The channel of the dust who once achieves
Invalidates the balm of that religion
That doubts as fervently as it believes.
