Dying! Dying in the night — Morality Play

A morality play is dying because two actors are late, but they come finally. There exists hardly another way to interpret this poem, especially the oddness of "This way, Jesus, Let him pass" in line eight.

Dying! Dying in the night! ¹
Won't somebody bring the light
So I can see which way to go
Into the everlasting snow?

And "Jesus"! Where is Jesus gone? ⁵
They said that Jesus－always came－
Perhaps he doesn't know the House－
This way, Jesus, Let him pass!

Somebody run to the great gate ⁹
And see if Dollie's coming! Wait!
I hear her feet upon the stair!
Death won't hurt－now Dollie's here!

[1] Dying:: a show is dying because actors and lamps are not ready yet. Dying:: lamps for the stage are dying out.
[2] light:: a hint on the lamps.
[3] way to go:: a rehearsal just before the morality play.
[4] everlasting snow:: the setting on the stage.
[5] "Jesus":: one who plays the role Jesus Christ.
[6] Jesus always came:: the actor has not miss any perform before.
[7] House:: a theater house.
[8] Let him pass:: the actor arrives.
[9] great gate:: gate of the theater, hinted by great.
[10] Dollie:: name of the actor who plays the sheep; or a real sheep.
[11] hear her feet:: possibly a real sheep with distinctive footstep.
[12] Death:: failure of the play. won't hurt, now Dollie's here:: all actors are now ready.
