There is a word — Password

There is a word 1
Which bears a sword
Can pierce an armed man-
It hurls its barbed syllables
And is mute again-5
But where it fell
The saved will tell
On patriotic day,
Some epauletted Brother
Gave his breath away.

Wherever runs the breathless sun-11
Wherever roams the day-
There is its noiseless onset-
There is its victory!
Behold the keenest marksman!
The most accomplished shot! 16
Time's sublimest target
Is a soul "forgot!"
(F.42/J.8)
