After great pain, a formal feeling comes — Ballet Dancer

After great pain of practising, the coming formal performance makes the ballet dancer nervous to death. Organist is a possible answer, but it fits not so well as dancer.

After great pain, a formal feeling comes-1
The Nerves sit ceremonious, like Tombs-
The stiff Heart questions was it He, that bore,
And Yesterday, or Centuries before?

The Feet, mechanical, go round5
Of Ground, or Air, or Ought-
A Wooden way
Regardless grown,
A Quartz contentment, like a stone-

This is the Hour of Lead-10
Remembered, if outlived,
As Freezing persons, recollect the Snow-
First-Chill-then Stupor-then the letting go-
