How many times these low feet staggered — Sewing Box

Soldered, rivet, and steel are suspicious for they all related to metal. The key is in the last line, Housewife, a metal sewing box. When the key is placed at the end, all lines before serve to confuse us.

How many times these low feet staggered-1
Only the soldered mouth can tell-
Try-can you stir the awful rivet
Try-can you lift the hasps of steel!

Stroke the cool forehead-hot so often-5
Lift-if you care-the listless hair-
Handle the adamantine fingers
Never a thimble-more-shall wear-

Buzz the dull flies-on the chamber window-9
Brave-shines the sun through the freckled pane-
Fearless-the cobweb swings from the ceiling-
Indolent Housewife-in Daisies-lain!
